General Explanation of the book
The book I chose is called Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, the first of a series of three children's books written by Alvin Schwartz. Generally, the book contains a collection of folklore and urban legends which were rewritten and adapted by Schwartz. These stories are overall darkly humorous, macabre, gruesome, and generally frightening. With each story, there is a nightmarish drawing to compliment the page, which were all drawn by the artist, Stephen Gammell. Often, these stories contain themes of murder, death, horror, cannibalism, and many other controversial subjects for children 'ages 9 and up' to read.
