Should this book be banned?
I think the question should be, "Should any book be banned at all?". My personal answer to this question is no. I believe that it is important to protect the things that people create. Whether it be a work of art, a novel, a movie, or simply anything that someone makes and is proud enough to share with the world. It's not fair to take away something that someone has worked hard on. It's fine to be offended, but it's not okay to 'ban' something that is not yours.
Not to mention, I find that the reasons for the banning and challenging of this book are immature and silly. Just because something has a dark nature doesn't mean it should be taken away from libraries. Children need to have as many different books to read as they can. It is so very important to read, no matter what the topic.
Lastly, blaming the frightening drawings and subjects is close-minded. Horror and murder and death are real things, and children should learn about them just as they do with everything else.
Not to mention, the title of the book literally says it all. The book is meant to be for those who want to read scary stories in the dark, and that's what it is. If you get scared by the book, then it did its job.
